Back to School: Learn like Timothy

Back to School: Learn like Timothy

In honor of back to school season, today we’re talking about Timothy, a guy who loved to learn. So much, in fact, that he decided to travel around with Paul, sharing Jesus with others! Timothy learned a lot during his time with Paul—and from letters Paul wrote him, even while they were apart.

One of the very first things Paul told him was to keep his conscience clear. That means, do what they know is right. Right after that, Paul taught Timothy to pray for everyone by asking God to help them and giving thanks for them. Those are just two small examples, but consider for a moment:

  • What’s a conscience? What does it mean to keep it clear?
  • When have you listened to your conscience? When haven’t you?
  • Why do you think God wants us to pray for everyone?
  • Who’s the first person who comes to your mind? Try asking God to help them. And thanking him for them.

If you want, keep going by reading Paul’s letters to Timothy in 1 and 2 Timothy. And then ask, who taught you about Jesus?
