All I Want for Christmas

All I Want for Christmas

Today, we’re going to skip right past Jesus' birth to read a story about something that happened when he was still a baby. But first, let’s talk about Santa. (Nope, that's not a typo.) Some of you might have gone somewhere to meet Santa or written him a letter. And what do you tell him? What you want for Christmas, right? Think for a second about what you really want this Christmas.

We all know what it’s like to want something. And guess what? There were a lot of people who couldn’t wait to see Jesus. They wanted to meet him so badly! Their names were Simeon and Anna. Let’s take a minute to read their story in Luke 2:25-40. As you listen, think about what it’s like to get something you desperately want.

After you read, talk about it!

  • What did Simeon do when he met Jesus? What about Anna?
  • Why did they want to meet Jesus so much?
  • What’s one good thing you want—something that’s not just good for you but helps everyone?

For a bonus, think about your friends and family members. Does anybody want (or need) something important? See if you can come up with one very special gift to GIVE this Christmas.
